Summary
Two 'duck shaped' pieces of particle board attached with each other with wooden blocks. This unfinished shape was an early prototype for the body shape of the Toy Duck that appeared in the Opening Ceremony of the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games. This prototype is one of the objects collected to document the developmental process behind the staging of the Ceremony. Designed by Christina Smith, and built by members of the Ceremonies Workshop, headed by Al Martinez, this prototype was one of the earliest products from the workshop, reflecting the fact that the duck was one of the earliest elements whose place in the Ceremony was assured.
