Slide number 10 from a set of 12 lantern slides depicting the children's story 'Jack and the Beanstalk'.

This lantern slide is part of the Francis Collection of pre-cinematic apparatus and ephemera, acquired by the Australian and Victorian Governments in 1975. David Francis was the curator of the National Film and Sound Archive of the British Film Institute as well as being a co-founder of the Museum of the Moving Image in London, which was operational between 1988 and 1999.

Description of Content

Lantern slide showing a man sitting on a bench with a knife and fork in his hands. His left elbow rests on a table, adjacent to a plate and jug. A spiked club leans against a doorway behind him. He has a moustache and beard, and wears a yellow tunic, blue trousers, red belt and shoes. Masonry around him suggests a building interior.
