Staff newsletter titled 'Australian Kodakery', Issue No 1, July 1968, published by Kodak (Australasia) Pty Ltd, Coburg, Victoria. The series runs from Issue No 1, July 1968 to No 171, June 1985. Missing issues No. 87 and 110. Normally published monthly, with some exceptions, it was succeeded by 'Kodak News', which continued numbering with No. 172, July 1985.
The introductory issue of the 'Australian Kodakery', 'a newspaper for the men and women of Kodak', features articles from the Chairman and Managing Director (Mr. E. A. Teasdale) and Editor (Mr. P. Hunter) introducing the Kodakery and asking readers to contribute to the newsletter.
Other articles include informative pieces on camera use ('Getting the Most Out of Your Camera'), photography competitions and exhibitions ('The 33rd Kodak International Salon of Photography'; 'Police Photography Exhibition'; 'More Than Meets the Eye'), as well as light-hearted pieces on activities at Kodak (Australasia) Pty Ltd. Stories also include 'Kodak Around the World'; 'Employee Benefits'; 'Classified Advertisements'; 'Retirements'; 'Engagements, Marriages, Births and Deaths', and an advertisement for the 'Kodak Recreation Association's 22nd Annual Ball'.
Photographs of note are included with the article 'After you, Jack', and include views from the top of the 200 foot lightning conductor attached to the chimney at the Coburg facility, and photographs of those who have reached 25 years of service (Mr. H. Warlond and Mrs. E. Gardner) and those who are retiring (Mr. B. Gandy). A photograph of Mr. E. A. Teasdale (Chairman and Managing Director) is included on the cover page.
This document is part of the Kodak Heritage Collection of products, promotional materials, photographs and working life artefacts collected from Kodak Australasia Pty Ltd in 2005, when the Melbourne manufacturing plant at Coburg closed down.
Kodak Australasia Pty Ltd manufactured and distributed a wide range of photographic products to Australasia, such as film, paper, chemicals, cameras and miscellaneous equipment. Its client base included amateur and professional photographers, as well as specialist medical and graphic art professionals who used photography, x-ray and other imaging techniques.
