Summary
Portrait of Nick and Alexandra Karras (Karathanasopoulos) and their daughter Anastacia [Sia] at Sia's debutante ball in Melbourne, late 1950s. It is one of seven black and white copy negatives relating to the migration and settlement experiences of brothers Nick and George Karras (Karathanasopoulos) and their families. The brothers first migrated to Australia from Patras, Greece in the 1920s. Nick went back to Greece during the interwar period and when he returned to Australia with his wife and daughter in 1943, he brought with him a trunk, also in the Museum's collection. George's settlement story involves frequent relocation in terms of businesses and homeland, moving between Australia and Greece.
