Summary
Copy of a medal of Doge Pasquale Malipieri (1457-1462) and his wife Giovanna Dandolo. The original medal was by the artist Pietro da Fano in about 1460. This two piece electrotype copy was made circa 1881 by Robert Ready. The British Museum holds an example of this medal (Reg: M.9024) but it is not the piece from whci this electrotype was taken. Pasquale Malipiero was the 66th Doge of Venice. The portrait of Giovanna on the reverse may be the only surviving portrait of a 15th century dogaressa.
