Summary
Copy of a medal of Borso Marquis of Este (1413-1471). The original medal by Amadio da Milano, was cast before 1471. This two piece electrotype copy was made circa 1881 by Robert Ready. This electrotype copy was made circa 1881 at British Museum by Robert Ready from a bronze out of the collection of George III held by that museum (Reg: G3,FerrM.53).

Bust of Borso facing left wearing armour, head bare; around, DOMINVS BORSIVS MARCHIO ESTENSIS (Translation: Lord Borso Marquess of Este)
Reverse Description
A dragon headed door-knocker hanging from a marigold rosette with long leaves at left and right; around, incuse, AMADE MEDIOLAN AR FEX FECT (Translation: Made by Amadio da Milano)
