Summary

This a recording of an 1989 interview from ABC Melbourne radio show Education Now. It was recorded on a tape recorder using a BASF casette. In the interview the shows host David McCrae introduces the idea and the location of the Sunrise School at Melbourne Museum and then passes to Lyndel Jones at the museum. Jones interviews one of the students, Madeline Aikenhead who mentions working with fellow student Caitlin on a Turtle program, to play the tune 'Twinkle, Twinkle Litte Star' with a dancer moving on the screen. One of the sunrise teachers Marg Fallshaw (from Princes Hill Secondary College) discusses the learning environment and another teacher David Williams talks about a billard table project and some of the the male students describe the work. Program founder, Dr Liddy Nevile is asked "How do you measure success...?" and she describes the classroom and the way the school operates.

These students and teachers from Princes Hill Secondary College participated in the exploratory computing classroom, 'The Sunrise School' which ran from 1988-1989 at Melbourne Museum. This audio file forms part of the Sunrise Collection which includes educational robots, software and multimedia recordings of teachers and students exploring new possibilities with computer programming.
