Summary
Alternative Name(s): Button
This depiction of the character known as Uncle Sam emerged in 1917 on an American First World War Conscription poster, but it was based on an earlier British version with the same aim. In this image, the trope is used in order to condemn the entire war effort; his finger is replaced by a pointed gun, while his facial expression remained the same as in the original version.
