This badge makes reference to the Voyage of the Pacific Peacemaker, an anti-nuclear initiative from 1982. It involved a yacht sailing across the Pacific to protest the Trident Nuclear Programme and the construction of a Trident base in Western Australia.The donor, Nic Maclellan, also works as a journalist and researcher in the Pacific Islands, having written about labour mobility, human rights and uprooted peoples in the islands region.

The design of the badge is based on the design painted on the the sail of the Pacific Peacemaker by Australian Artist Jenny Short.
