This is a badge from the anti-Nuclear campaign in Australia. B52 planes have nuclear capability and at the time Australia was permitting American operations using this equipment to take place on its territory. Many campaigners were pushing for the area to become a Nuclear-Free zone. The Treaty of Rarotonga, or the South Pacific Nuclear Free Zone Treaty was signed in 1986, with Australia as an initiator. It bans the use, testing, and possession of nuclear weapons within the borders of the area.
