Summary
Alternative Name(s): Button
Round badge with the slogan 'World Peace' made around 1950. In Australia, this period marked by the aftermath of World War II and the gradual onset of the Cold War was met with a flourishing of peace movements. The year 1949 saw the formation of The Australian Peace Congress, while in 1950 they organised the Australian Peace Congress. It seems that this badge was quite popular at the time. It is one of a series of badges collected by Andrew Reeves over a fifteen year period during which he undertook much research in the field of Trade Union material culture, and had extensive contact with the Trade Union movement Australia wide.
