Simple lathe for polishing screw heads. in lined case containing ancillary tools. Used at Melbourne Observatory.
Physical Description
Brass lathe bed that is held in vice. One end has adjustable steel screw and the other end has groove with steel bush to hold rotating tool. Grooved end also has two steel axles, the lower with rotating steel cylinder. Upper axle to hold polishing wheels (laps). Ancillary tools are: 2 laps, 2 lantern chucks, 3 split tongs.
