Summary
A 1:48 scale model built for the Museum under contract by Mr R.D Ramsay in 1966. The model is painted to represent VH-CAV, a Friendship F27-1009 serial number 10131 operated by the Department of Civil Aviation. On 23 March 1962, this aircraft carried the pre-production prototype of the Aeronautical Research Laboratory (ARL) flight data recorder on its first test flight. The Friendship departed from Essendon Airport in Melbourne and conducted a series of handling tests which were traced successfully on a wire recorder. This aircraft was later flown by Air-UK in Britain as G-STAN.
