Item ST 22107 Telegraph Pole Changer - Unknown Make, Melbourne Observatory, Victoria, circa 1880s-1900s

Summary

A relay used in some telegraph systems which reverses the conections of one or more circuits. Used at Melbourne Observatory.

Physical Description

Wooden base supporting a steel or iron 'L' piece and two coils with their axes vertical. 'L' piece supports a horizontal metal plate above the coils. This plate carries spring contacts and four brass screw terminals.
