World War II RAAF officer's blue wool forage cap with eagle insignia.
Belonged to Flight Lieutenant Graham Stewart Conning. Conning enlisted in the RAAF in January, 1942. He was born in Richmond Victoria in 1919 and was living in Coburg before enlisting. He became a Lieutenant and was discharged from service in October 1945.
Physical Description
Blue woollen cap with shaped band at bottom of cap fastening at the front with two black buttons, with crown and eagle on them, and button holes. The band is a folded shaped piece of fabric that is held up with a hook and eye. Underneath fastening at front of cap another half circle band attached at bottom. Metal crown and eagle on left hand side. Crown has centre seam and piping around the edge. Inside is lined with fawn satin fabric edged with velvet ribbon.
