Significance
The moneyer is believed to be C. Caecilius Metellus Caprarius who became Consul in 113 BC. The elephants on the reverse promote the family of the moneyer through his ancestor L. Caecilius Metellus who defeated Hastrubal in 250 BC and captured his war elephants.
