Summary
Copper As of the Emperor Claudius, Ancient Roman Empire, probably struck in the period 41 to 50 AD but production could have continued a little longer. Minted by Rome. Although the gold and silver coins of Claudius show numerical changes in TRP and IMP which can be translated to dates, the aes coinage is almost unchanged (with the exception of the addition of PP in 50 AD). This coin, without PP at the end of the obverse legend is therefore only broadly dated to between 41 and 50 AD but it is not certain when production ended. The rim of this coin has been hammered, it may have been used as jewellery inside a mount at some time.
