Summary
Oddie 9 inch refractor telescope by Grubb, Dublin, at Melbourne Observatory. The telescope had been donated by amateur astronomer James Oddie to the Commonwealth Government, to assist in the establishment of a commonwealth observatory.
Melbourne Observatory astronomers Pietro Baracchi and Joseph Baldwin spent one week each month at Mount Stromlo with the Oddie telescope, testing the suitability of the site for a permanent observatory.
