The Great Melbourne Telescope being erected at the Melbourne Observatory, 1869. Photograph shows the Great Melbourne Telescope House nearing completion. The telescope, which has a fabric covering over it, is at the opening of the roll-off roof. Workmen, probably plasterers rendering the walls to the building, are on scaffolding at one end of the telescope house. There is a timber picket fence in the foreground.
