Summary
Female assistant using a photographic plate measuring machine to measure the precise positions of stars for the international Astrograph Project, around 1905.
The machine being used is probably one made by Repsold & Son; Melbourne Observatory purchased two machines, in 1899 and 1902. They were subsequently sent to Sydney Observatory; one is now held by the Powerhouse Museum: see their registration number H10066.
