Summary
Copper As of the Emperor Hadrian struck between 121 and 122 AD, Ancient Roman Empire. Minted by Rome. Hadrian was Consul for the third and final time (COS III on the reverse of this coin) in 119 AD. Between 119 and 121 the term COS II was placed in the obverse legend, after 121 on the reverse. The Rome mint seems to have been closed while Hadrian was travelling from 122 to late 125 AD and when he returned and the mint was re-opened the simple obverse legend HADRIANVS AVGVSTVS was introduced. The production of this coin can therefore be place in the period 121-122 AD.
