Other Details: A gilt medal issued by M.R. Roberts to commemorate the 50th jubilee of the Archibald Fountain. The Archibald fountain was erected in Hyde Park North in 1932, bequeathed to the City of Sydney by J.F. Archibald, founder of the Bulletin newspaper. It commemorates the association between Australia and France in World War I and is the work of French sculptor Francois Sicard. It depicts a bronze Apollo surrounded by other mythical figures. Archibald was fascinated by all things Parisian. He changed his name from John Feltham to Jules Francois and wore an unfashionable French-style beard.
