Summary
Partially completed scale model of a wing for the Flying Tram. Frame for the wing is made from a length of aluminium strap riveted together. Three feathers, made from polyethelyene glued to lengths of wire, have been attached to the frame to indicate the way the wing would be made and the finished effect. This prototype wing for the Flying Tram built for the Opening Ceremony of the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games was one of the earliest products of the Ceremonies Workshop, as they developed ways of realising the designs for the Opening Ceremony.
Physical Description
Model Wing made from sculpted metal, wire and foam. A metal frame shaped to form the lower section of a bird's wing supports three foam feathers attached by wire and glue. There are six wire spokes running through the frame, and the glue on the foam feathers is messy and runs its entire length.
