Summary

Peace badge, alternatively known as a button, used in the 1980s. The badge depicts a pink triangle with a white 'Peace Symbol' inside it.The pink triangle was originally used by the Nazis to denote homosexuals in concentration camps. The gay rights movement has since proudly appropriated what was once seen as a shameful symbol. The overall symbolism makes an overt link between the peace movement and the gay community. 1986 was the International Year of Peace.
