Summary

One of sixty-nine black and white and sepia photographs in a bound album [six of which are loose] taken by A J Campbell during a Field Naturalists' Club of Victoria expedition to Kent Group of islands, Bass Strait in 1890. The album also includes a map of Kent Group in the inside front cover and numerous contemporary newspaper clippings relating to the expedition.

Description of Content

The Field Naturalists Club of Victoria campsite on Deal Island, Bass Strait. Pictured are four members of the club in front of three tents. To the right are two bullocks and a cart laden with a water barrel. The campsite is at the foot of a low cliff with sparse vegetation. Photograph taken by Archibald J. Campbell during a scientific expedition by the Club to the Kent Group islands in 1890.
