Summary

One of sixty-nine black and white and sepia photographs in a bound album [six of which are loose] taken by A J Campbell during a Field Naturalists' Club of Victoria expedition to Kent Group of islands, Bass Strait in 1890. The album also includes a map of Kent Group in the inside front cover and numerous contemporary newspaper clippings relating to the expedition.

Description of Content

Members of the Field Naturalists Club of Victoria returning to their base camp on Deal Island after a day of collecting samples of the indigenous flora and fauna on nearby North East Island. There are eight men standing alongside a row boat which is anchored on the foreshore. Some of the items which the men have collected are hanging on the side of the boat. The men are standing in front of a low cliff with low vegetation. Photograph taken by Archibald J. Campbell during the Club's scientific expedition to the Kent Group of islands, Bass Strait, in 1890.
