Summary
Panel with floral pattern and mythical birds, embroidered by Mrs Violet May Wilson of Beaconsfield in 1952. The piece was worked from a transfer designed in England, and was made as a firescreen. It won third prize in 1952 at Royal Melbourne Show. amd was subsequently exhibited in a number of agricultural shows between 1952 and 1974.
Jacobean work may also be called crewel embroidery.
Physical Description
Jacobean Albany panel. Design is of a stylized tree of life with stylized flowers and mythical birds. Work is done on light brown soft cotton material.
