Summary
This horseshoe was given to the donor by Phar Lap's strapper, Tommy Woodcock, during the 1980s, after he recorded several oral history sessions with him.
Tommy Woodcock told the donor that Phar Lap had worn the shoe during the Agua Caliente Handicap in Mexico in 1932. It was especially made for him to assist him to run on the hard track.
Physical Description
Metal horseshoe, with 10 holes for nails around the rim. Made of cast iron, now worn and beginning to be pitted. This is not a standard horseshoe, as it has a ridge towards the front of the shoe, and a projection on the left end.
