Summary
Lantern slide depicting a woman with two children in an open pavilion (note the many posts) with a large table with white cloth. The scene appears to show preparations for a feast or celebration - possibly a welcome feast for tourists, reinforced by the presence of a tablecloth - a very Western touch.
Note that homes of the period in Fiji had walls and were not open to the elements, as is this pavilion.
Part of a collection of 55 photographic lantern slides, glass negatives and acetate negatives of travel images taken in the Pacific Islands, probably in the late 1930s. The slide is numbered '10'.
