Summary

Badge with the slogan 'Free the Refugees', which was issued by the Refugee Action Collective, circa 2002. The slogan 'free the refugees' was used as a standard by the Refugee Action Collective Victoria (RAC) for its badges when it was established in late 2001.

The Refugee Action Collective grew out of a national grassroots protest movement in response to the treatment of refugees and mandatory detention. First established in 2000, it gained momentum during the Tampa crisis in August 2001.
