Summary
This letter of sympathy was one of a large number sent to his trainer and part owner Harry Telford after Phar Lap died in April, 1932. The Telford family retained the letters, and they were donated to the museum in the 1990s.

Text: Dear Mr. Telford./Just a few words/of sympathy at the loss of our noble/Phar Lap. I have never seen him/but feel that such a beautiful/creature could not sicken & die/so quickly from only natural/causes - has there not been/awful cruelty - deception or/neglect?/As an Australian who hates/dumb animals to suffer I hope you/will be able to satisfy your/self as to the causes of poor/Phar Lap's death. A truly/noble beast.
