Summary
This letter of sympathy was one of a large number sent to his trainer and part owner Harry Telford after Phar Lap died in April, 1932. The Telford family retained the letters, and they were donated to the museum in the 1990s.

Text: Mr. Telford/Dear Sir./I am writing/to ask you if it is possible to have a/shoe or a couple belonging to the wonder/horse we were all deeply hurt to hear/the news indeed I admired him as if/he were mine. I have one here/he has Stepneath blood a bonny colt/to he gallops around all day I love/a good horse, like yours a real horse/and I hope you get another and/have betterr luck hoping this reaches/you in the best of health as it leaves/me and plenty of good luck in future.
