Summary
This letter of sympathy was one of a large number sent to his trainer and part owner Harry Telford after Phar Lap died in April, 1932. The Telford family retained the letters, and they were donated to the museum in the 1990s.

Text: Dear Mr. Telford/I cannot let your/misfortune go past without writing/and expressing my deepest sympathy/in your sad loss. For I'm sure I am/duty bound on my long acquaintance/in writing of such a wonderful horse/and as you are quite aware I am/partial to any racehorse./I hope I am not asking/of you too much by requesting you/as a personal favour if you would/send me one of Phar Laps photos.
