Summary
This letter of sympathy was one of a large number sent to his trainer and part owner Harry Telford after Phar Lap died in April, 1932. The Telford family retained the letters, and they were donated to the museum in the 1990s.

Text: Mr. Telford.Dear Sir/A few words from a great admirer/of dear old Phar Lap to sympathize/with you all for the death of that/wonderful horse. I will always regret/that I never saw him but someday will/go over to Canberra to see all lthat is left/of him now. We went 40 miles to see the/movie picture of Phar Lap winning/the Melbourne Cup the part I liked best/was the gentle way he took the piece of/hay from your little boys hand/If you have a spare photo of Phar Lap/would you send me one. Again I say/how sorry I am for the loss of the greatest/horse of all times but I do not think that/any of us will forget Phar Lap.
