Summary
This letter of sympathy was one of a large number sent to his trainer and part owner Harry Telford after Phar Lap died in April, 1932. The Telford family retained the letters, and they were donated to the museum in the 1990s.

Text: To/Mr. Telford/Dear Sir./Last week we/travelled to Adelaide 70 mile by train to see/dear "Phar Lap: winning the "Agu Caliente", hdp./We went to four "Talkies" & he was just/lovely in them all./We also heard & seen/you talkiing on "Phar Lap" also your little son/on his white pony & your stables they were/just great & so different to farm stables./Mr Telford, I am forwarding to you/two copies of verses on "Phar Lap", which/appeared in a sporting paper which I take/named "The Sport" Newspaper./Perhaps your papers would not/have had these verses in them &/that is why I am sending them/to you they are so original/Myself, I have kept all/clippings & Photos our of papers, I think/perhaps in time the photos will rub./We would have liked a tiny snap of/'Phar Lap' & then perhaps we could have/had it enlarged & framed as we are a/lover of horses but no one seems/to have any real photos of 'Phar Lap'/over this way./I hope Mr. Telford you will like these/verses when you read them as you/may place them in a box of memories.
