Text: Mr. Telford/Dear Sir/Please excuse the liberty I am/taking in writing to you; but as I have drawn/and painted that dear horse Phar Lap i thought/probably that you may like to order one, or the/set of four, which I have almost completed./There are various sizes, and also, heads,/head, neck and part of Phar Lap with jockey/mounted; these two different pictures, complete/horse and rider mounted; with racing tracks etc./I am also drawing and making other pictures/of Phar Lap. One picture almost completed is where Phar Lap had/such a marvellous victory at Agua Caliente with/jockey mounted, track etc, the largest picture of all/is where he won the Melbourne Cup or raced in the/Derby(I am not quite sure/I think the former/with J. Pike mounted./They should last a life time. I spare neither/time or trouble or material; and I don not ask/prohibitive or exhorbitant prices. I would like/you to see them Mr. Telford, (Or any of the jockeys/or racing acquaintances) I am enclosing a few verses/on poor Phar Lap, altho I never saw him, I have grieved over him. I/am a devoted lover of animals and you and Mr. Davis have my/deep sympathy in such/a sad loss. I shall/be one of the/first to see/his dear form/when it returns/with very best wishes, and/for better luck/in the future.
