Summary
Letter of sympathy that was one of a large number sent to trainer and part owner Harry Telford after Phar Lap died in April, 1932. The Telford family retained the letters, and they were donated to the museum in the 1990s.

Text: To Mr. Davis/Dear Sir,/Though it is rather/late in the day, but will you/accept my sympathy as a/stranger at the loss of your/dear old Australian Horse Phar-/Lap. I never saw the dear old/fellow but have often read of him/and seen his photos in the papers./I am a great horse fancier. I was/one time a champion Lady/Rider of New South Wales,/won thirty seven prizes for riding/over jumps, also won prizes for flat/riding. Do you remember Fairfield/a Melbourne horse? He was one/of the horse which I rode, and won/with. And another steeplechase/chase horse Marjory, from Melbourne/I rode at West Maitland/Show. Phar Laps photo came out/in different papers but the one/that came out in the Sportiing/Globe is the most Beautiful/picture of all, and I am going/to have it framed, and/hung up in my room in/remembrance of Phar Lap. I/have a photo of myself on horse/back which I would like to have/painted, and I wondering if you/would kindly tell me the name/and the address of the man who/painted Phar Lap as it came/out in the "Globe". In my sporting/Show Days my name was/Miss Lizzie Lowther, no doubt/you have read about me. Again/I extend my deepest sympathy for/Phar Lap.
