Text: Mr. H.R. Telford/Dear Sir,/I wonder if you would think it/impertinent of me, if I asked you to send me a/small souvenir of "Phar Lap". I can not yet/realise that it can be true that "Phar Lap" is/dead. I have watched every race in which he/has taken part, and I have felt as proud/and excited as if he were my own. When I read/of lhis death, I felt as if I had lost my only/child. It is yet unberable to think of the "Red/Terror" as one dead and gone. Even if I just/could have a piece of ribbon, and no that it/had touched his noble neck, I should value it/more than gold. Hoping that you will not/disappoint me.
