Summary
This letter of sympathy was one of a large number sent to his trainer and part owner Harry Telford after Phar Lap died in April, 1932. The Telford family retained the letters, and they were donated to the museum in the 1990s.

Text: Mr. Telford/Dear Sir/Pardon me/taking the liberty of writing/to you but being an admirer/of Phar Lap i wish to/express my sorrow in the/loss of such a beautiful/horse. I simply adored/him in fact the nicknamed/me Phar lap but very pleased/to know he is coming back to/rest his bones in his home/land as there will only/ever be one Phar Lap and/his work will last for ever./In sympathy with trainer, jockey/& all of those connected with Australias glorious horse.
